In the vibrant world of contemporary fashion few designers
have consistently stood out of the crowd for their
creativity, talent and attention to the aesthetic
detail. Ranna Gill is one such rarity.
Having completed her associate degree in Fashion from
the countries premier fashion institute NIFT in 1991,
Ranna went on to complete her graduation from the
Fashion Institute of Technology, New York in 1994.
While studying at F.I.T., Ranna spent the formative
years of her career in fashion interning with Donna
Karan, and later joined one of the world's most prestigious
fashion houses Polo Ralph Lauren (Women's wear division)
at their world head quarters in New York.
Upon her return to India Ranna launched her self-styled
label Ranna in 1996. The spring opening of her boutique
"Ameera" and the Spring Summer 2000 show (the latest
in a series of many successful showings) marks her
5th year in Indian fashion. She has had a number of
fashion shows abroad, and in India as well.
For this designer every season is an experience. Every
collection is a journey into the inner self where
she discovers yet another aesthetic realm to draw
her creativity from. A realm that is new, dew fresh
and off the predictable track.
